“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” –Henry David Thoreau
The woods is a place we can explore. A place we can run dance and scream to our heart’s content without reservation or the need for validation. A place we can be connected yet free.
This blog is the wild space of one who loves the wilderness. It doesn’t necessarily grow in neat rows: according to certain topics and systematic themes. But it does grow honestly, organically, and with much love.
Life in the Northwoods isn’t tame. The land of ice storms and wildfires and Superior gales doesn’t lend its people to belief that life is always safe. Or that the fenced-in, climate-controlled alternative is worth pursuing. The only life I wish to spend mine on is the deliberate one, storms and sunrises and all. For if we’re not living on purpose, are we really living?
This blog is for all those seeking something: authenticity, growth, freedom, a connection with something deeper, a poem. It’s for me, and it’s also for you.
Welcome to Northernwords.
